The Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop comes with a good array of features. However, there is some questions regarding its size for business use. The back-lighting is fine in an office setting and easy to read. This notebook is targeted toward business use and it is not an entertainment or gaming notebook.
The Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop features a 15.4-inch Diagonal TruBrite high-gloss screen; wireless connectivity, built-in webcam/microphone and DVD super multi optical drive with Labelflash. Weighing about 2.27Kgs with battery pack, the Toshiba Satellite L300 series laptop offers integrated Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG WiFi 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN connection and integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN connection. Other features of the Toshiba L300 laptop PC include 3 USB v2.0 fast ports and an ExpressCard/54 slot, eSATA/USB power port, touch pad with 2 click buttons and one scroll button, PCMCIA One Mini PCMCIA Slot compliance support type and Built-in Audio AC97 audio hardware with built-in SRS Surround Sound stereo speakers. FIVE –Â Build and design
The Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop has a very simple design. It has that sleek business appearance with its silver lid and the black keyboard. You do not get any glossy imprint finishes with the Toshiba Satellite L300. The chassis is solid and the overall design looks fine. The plastic design seems durable and there is no signs of any flex. The hinge is even stiff and the screen stays in place.
FOUR –Â Keyboard and touchpad
The keyboard on the Toshiba Satellite L300 is solid and does not show any signs of flex, no matter how hard you type. The keys have a nice response and are easy to read and they even have a durable textured feel to them. The spacebar is a little smaller than you would like, but it is not the end of the world.
The Toshiba Satellite L300 does not have any problems running multiple programs or multi-tasking jobs with its 2.1GHz processor, Core 2 Duo and 160GB hard drive. You could check email, open documents and surf the Web without any lag. The benchmarks are average and overall the Toshiba Satellite L300 does well on its PCMark05 score compared to other notebooks in the same category.
The speakers of the Toshiba Satellite L300 are located under the screen of the notebook by the hinge. Music sounds fine when played at normal levels, but the louder it gets the more distorted it is. Use your trusted headphones when working and watching videos or listening to music. The volume dial on the front side is a convenient feature too.
With the screen brightness set to 50 percent, wireless enabled, and the power profile set to Toshiba's Power Saver the Toshiba Satellite L300 manages 3 hours and 45 minutes before you have to plug it in. If you adjust the power settings and put the notebook in Max Power then you will only get a little more than two hours though. You would consider getting an extended battery for longer computing times, especially if you travel.
For enhanced security, Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop is also equipped with integrated 1.3 MP Webcam, which is used for Face Recognition using SmartFace technology for fast log-on.
