In instances, where the drive is not electable, most of the vendors would provide a small pin hole next to the CD drive indicator, to insert a pin, and check whether you could get the CD out. If that did not work, you may have to take help from a hardware technician. For issues where the clarity is less, you would need to install all the necessary updates for your computer using Service Station facility of your computer. You could also ensure that the BIOS of the computer is the latest one.
There are some tips and tricks that you need to know, to keep the drive in optimum condition. The first one would be to ensure that the CD/ DVD that you put into the drive are fully clean from any dirt. Also, ensure that you have done all the necessary updates for the optical drive, before you perform any task using the same optical drive. If you do not get the latest driver for the optical drive from the vendor site, search for it from the optical drive manufacturer's website and do the needful. The reason being, that the manufacturer of the computer may not necessarily be the manufacturer of the drive also. There are occasions when the drive is not detected in ‘Device Manager’, which may be because of the fact that the drive connector is not connected properly to the motherboard. In such scenarios, it’s always better to reset the drive. This step needs to be performed with the help of a support technician, or else with the help of a user manual, after making sure that the optical drive is a customer replaceable part. If you are technically sound and confident about doing some troubleshooting steps, you could very well do so, after making sure that those steps won’t void the warranty of your computer altogether.
