Visconti2 (TMPV7500) Image Recognition Processor for Automotive Application- Toshiba®
Toshiba announced that it will launch image recognition processors series for automotive applications named as Visconti2 (TMPV7500). This processor will be able to recognize lanes, traffic signs, vehicles, pedestrians, etc.
TMPV7506XBG includes the original Toshiba image processing accelerators, which is suited best for recognizing humans. It can detect pedestrians both at night and day time, as well as traffic lights and signs. The processor also supports color cameras and recognizes the tone and color of specific objects. This processor has the capability of simultaneously connecting up to four sets of cameras.
TMPV7504XBG is the other series of Visconti2, which supports two color cameras and it is perfect for forward monitoring system. It will help in simultaneously detecting several targets at a time, including lanes, traffic signs, and vehicles.
• TMPV7506XBG incorporates the original Toshiba image processing accelerators featuring Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG), which helps in detecting pedestrians in the dark as well as at day time. HOG has the ability to provide robust results even during lighting changes and some small deformations. It is perfect for detecting human.
• Visconti2 can support up to 1.3 million pixels of high resolution color cameras and it has the capability to increase the recognition rate of objects. It is good for those applications that require color recognition, such as traffic lights and signs.
• Visconti2 can now simultaneously connect up to four cameras, unlike the older version that supports only three cameras. With four cameras, it will provide the perfect assistance in places where synthesized images are used.
• The new processor gives high performance image recognition and consumes very less power, which makes it very efficient. It has four sets of MPE that work at 0.266 GHz and provides up to six image processing accelerators for enhanced detection. The new processor only has 0.266 GHz operating frequency but its performance is equivalent to those processors with 3 GHz capacity.
Toshiba will ship out the sample of these new processors by November 2011 and start mass production by September 2012. The price for TMPV7506XBG will be $77.6768 and the production volume will be 500,000 units a year. TMPV7504XBG sample will be sold at a price of $51.7826 and the production volume will be 1,000,000 units a year.
