Toshiba® new Enterprise class 15,000 rpm HDD
Toshiba is keeping pace with its tagline ‘Leading Innovation’. It has launched new enterprise class 2.5-inch hard disk drives with 6GB/s SAS interface and 15,000-rpm spindle speed. The high-speed of the hard disk drive renders an average latency of 2.7ms/3.0ms for read/write operations. The two products, MK3001GRRB/R and MK1401GRRB/R would be available in the capacities of 300GB and 147GB, respectively. The product, MK3001GRRB/R features Enhanced Power Condition State to facilitate spin at a lower RPM when not in use and thus ensures power reduction. The operating power consumption is between 4.3W and 4.5W.
Toshiba new MK01GRRB/R-series hard disk drives are first of their kind to use the platters (the circular disks on the hard drive that store magnetic data) having new areal density of 455.2GB per square inch. These latest PMR (perpendicular magnetic recording) platters facilitate an internal data transfer rate of up to 298 mbps.
The series also includes MKxx01GRRR models with self-encryption technology that follows the Security Subsystem Class (SSC) specifications, a protocol by Trusted Computing Group (TCG) for Trusted Computing (TC) platform. “Enterprise customers are increasingly satisfying their performance and capacity needs with power efficient small form factor drives. Enterprise drives with the latest self-encryption features are helping data centers to more cost-effectively achieve compliance with information security mandates. Toshiba small form factor enterprise drives deliver the performance, capacity and security features IT administrators require for today’s mission critical server, storage and cloud appliance markets," said Joel Hagberg, vice president marketing, storage products business unit, Toshiba.
Bulk availability of Toshiba new MK01GRRB/R-series hard disk drives would begin in the first quarter of the next year. For detailed specifications, you can check out the Toshiba website.
