Toshiba Android tablet- AT200, which was to be launched by the end of 2011, has been postponed to January 2012. This change in dates was first noticed on Toshiba Germany Facebook page. Toshiba AT200 will have a 10.1 inch screen and 1280 x 800 pixel display. It will also be loaded with 1GB RAM and internal memory extendable up to 64 GB. It will be equipped with a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor. The Android Tablet is just 0.3 inch thick.
According to speculation, the launch of Toshiba AT200 Android-based tablet, which was loaded with the Android 3.2 version(Honeycomb), was delayed so that Toshiba can load it with the latest Android operating system - Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0 version).
Toshiba AT200 will be thinner and lighter than the previous Toshiba tablet - Thrive. The earlier tablet, Toshiba Thrive , had HDMI, SD card, and USB ports but Toshiba AT200 will not have any of those. It will come only with mini ports. It is also equipped with 5MP rear snapper and 2MP front camera.
Toshiba AT200, which weighs only 558g, is lighter than Apple iPad 2, which incidentally weighs 601g. Toshiba will first release its Wi-Fi version and the 3G version will be released later. The 3G version is said to be a bit heavier than the Wi-Fi version. There is no information as to when Toshiba AT200 will be releasing in the United States, but it will release in Europe by the end of January. Nothing has been said about the price of the new Toshiba AT200 Android tablet. But Toshiba said that it will be priced “competitively.”
