Efficient energy usage through technology – Stratford joins hands with Toshiba®

It was announced recently that the city of Stratford has joined hands with Toshiba to put energy to its best use through technology and participate in the “Smart Community” initiative. By doing this, Stratford will be setting an example for other communities across the globe.

“This is exciting for Stratford,” Mayor Dan Mathieson said. “It’s a big deal.” The motive behind this initiative is to cut down the energy costs in the city by using advanced technology by Toshiba. The technology being mentioned here includes things like fuel cells, heat pumps and other such equipment that can help save energy.

Though these technologies are merely products for Toshiba, it is the efforts of the Smart Community that is putting them to their best use and is bringing changes in the society that could potentially save the planet for future generations.

No other details about the initiative have made their way out to the media but it is being stated that the groundwork will start early next year with the help of the city staff. This initiative has come as a reason to feel proud for the city as it is already one of the most intelligent communities in the world due to the development it has shown in the past. This was one reason that the city was chosen to be a part of the Smart Community initiative.

Toshiba is also considering this deal to be an exciting venture for them as they will get to demonstrate their technology to the world and will set an example for other cities to follow. One of the technologies that the brand plans to use in the city is its LED lights that are known for being energy efficient.

“What this gives us is a platform for innovation,” said Paul West, business development manager for Rhyzome Networks as he held up an LED bulb embedded with a computer chip and Wi-Fi radio.

There are many other technologies that the brand is thinking of incorporating in planning the city. Both the parties involved are looking forward to the venture.
