Toshiba mini NB300 Ethernet Card issues
Toshiba mini NB300 is a preferred netbook for travelers because it is small, light weight and has got a long battery life. However, it's not a very fast laptop. Toshiba mini NB300 comes equipped with an Intel® Atom™ N450 CPU, which runs at 1.66GHz and has Hyper-Threading. One of the commonly faced issues with Toshiba mini NB300 is an issue with Ethernet card.
Following are the three simple steps to resolve the issue with Ethernet card in Toshiba NB300:
- Check network availability
- Driver installation
- Plug in Ethernet cable
Check network availability
Before we start troubleshooting the issue in Ethernet card in the computer, make sure the Ethernet connection is available. If possible, test the connection with another computer before troubleshooting. If the connection is available when tested with another computer, then work on the following steps.
There is a possibility of driver not being installed for Ethernet card. Check if the drivers are installed and if they are working properly. If the device driver is not installed, install the driver either from Internet or from the software package provided with the computer. On installing the device driver, check the device manager to see if the driver is listed and check if it is working. If the driver is listed and if it is found faulty, then follow the troubleshooting steps given by the device manager. If the device driver is not listed even after the installation of the driver, then work on the next step.
If you are using Windows® 7 operating system and if you don't have Ethernet cable plugged in, then the system will not list the driver for Ethernet in the device manager. This is to save power and enable longer battery life. If the Ethernet cable is not plugged in, plug in the Ethernet cable.
