Set-up Configuration in Toshiba® Satellite A500
Like all other computers, the basic settings, like boot configuration, onboard devices settings, system time and date, etc. on Toshiba Satellite A500 laptop are saved in the BIOS set-up. You can enter to the BIOS Set-Up at the time of system start up and set the Boot priority, enable/disable devices, set system date and time as per your requirements. If a device is disabled in BIOS, the operating system will not be able to detect the disabled device. So, it is necessary to set an access password to restrict unauthorized access. You will find an option to set a supervisor password in BIOS set-up. Once you set the supervisor password for BIOS, you will be prompted to enter the password when you try to access the BIOS set-up. If you enter an incorrect password you will get a message "Setup configuration is disabled". You get this message even if the BIOS set-up is corrupted.
