System Recovery in Toshiba® Tecra A11

0

What is system recovery? When do you need to perform system recovery? What are the different options available in Toshiba Tecra A11 for system recovery?

System recovery is a process of creating an image of your computer settings and configurations so that you can use it to fix problems in the future. This may be required if your computer has encountered severe damages like Blue Screen of Death. It performs repair on the files which have errors and fixes them using one or more recovery tools options available in different computers. System recovery can also be used to take your computer settings back to the point when it was functioning properly.

In this section we will learn about following different recovery tools available in Toshiba Tecra A11 model:

  • Recover to out-of-box state
  • Recover to custom size partition
  • Recover without changing the internal storage drive partitions

Recover to out-of-box state

This is the most recommended recovery option which restores the actual factory settings on to the internal storage drive. This will make your computer settings just the way it was when you had purchased your system. So anything you had on your system like multiple drives and other settings will be totally erased. Hence, it is recommended to take a data back before performing this activity.

Recover to custom size partition

This process will delete all the drives from your system other than the ‘C’ drive. Before the process starts it will prompt you to choose a size for ‘C’ drive and then take it back to the original factory settings. Take a backup of your data before performing this process and also make sure to plug your system into AC power rather than running it on battery.

Recover without changing the internal storage drive partitions

This process works only on your system’s ‘C’ drive. Any other drive which you may have created and stored data on will remain untouched. So, either you can move your data from ‘C’ drive to the other drives or just take a backup before starting with this process. In Toshiba Tecra A11 system, the recovery image is stored on the ‘C’ drive, however, it is also advised to burn it on a CD/DVD so that just in case ‘C’ drive gets corrupt you still can use the recovery tools using the media storage devices.
