Networking issues in the Toshiba® Tecra A11
A network is a set of computers and devices connected by communications channels that facilitates communications among users to share resources with other users. There are different types of networks, there is LAN or Local Area Network, which uses cables and wires to connect devices together, WLAN, which is a Wireless Network, which does not use cables and wires as data is transmitted through radio transceivers. In order for the laptop to connect to these networks, certain adapters and drivers must be installed. These are called Network Interface Cards (NIC), and they are designed to allow computers to communicate over a computer network.
- Tips and Reminders
There are issues that a user might encounter regarding networking in his/her Toshiba Tecra A11 laptop. Common issues will be connectivity with either the LAN or Local Area Network or the WLAN or the Wireless Network. When it is connected directly to a modem or router through the Ethernet, one might encounter error messages such as ‘Limited or No connectivity’ and ‘Network Cable Unplugged’. Some will even say ‘Connected, but it cannot go online’. The common issues for the wireless network are almost the same with Local Area Network. The error message will be ‘Limited or No Connectivity’ and sometimes there are also issues with the ‘Config Free’ which is software for Toshiba that manages its wireless connectivity. The most common issue will be interference between the software, the ‘Config Free’ and the Wireless Zero Configuration of Windows.
There are fixes that you can perform to resolve the issues stated above. These fixes are not guaranteed to work with every issue. If the fixes stated here still won’t work, you must contact Toshiba for assistance. If the LAN not giving you any connection and you received the errors ‘Limited or No connectivity’ or ‘Network Cable Unplugged’, the first thing to do is to check if the cable is properly connected to the Ethernet port of your laptop and that of the modem or router. Then you can also try changing the cables to isolate the problem because it can be a defective cable. You can also connect a different laptop or computer to make sure that the Ethernet port on your laptop is not defective. As for the wireless, if you are connecting to a secured network, you have to make sure that you type the network key or password correctly. If the issue is with the software that manages wireless network, you just have to choose one application and disable the other to stop confusion in your laptop.
For your laptop to function properly and for you to enjoy complete connectivity, you must make sure that all the needed drivers and updates for these Network Interface Cards are done. If you encounter any connectivity issue, it is best to take note of the error message so that it will be easier to find the appropriate solution. Make sure to have good cables when connecting via a Local Area Network and all the needed information if you connect to a wireless network. These are just simple reminders, but they can help in avoiding any networking issues in your Toshiba Tecra A11 laptop.
