Factory Settings in Toshiba® Tecra A11 Laptop
Sometimes, to resolve problems on your Toshiba Tecra® A11 laptop is to restore it to its default settings. When you return the system to the factory settings all the changes that you have made to the operating system are rolled back. The laptop runs as new. But you must remember that this solution is the final resort. First of all, you should try to resolve the problem using the System Restore option. Returning to the factory settings implies that all the data and applications from the hard disk are erased.
- Data backup
- Loading the OS
- Inserting the system disc
- Beginning the restoration process
- Finishing the process
It is necessary to back up all the important data to an external hard drive or any another external media. If some errors occur during the restoration process, then the laptop may not power on or it may not load the OS. So, it is very important to copy all the critical information and store it on an external device from where it can be retrieved later.
Loading the OS
Now, you must switch on the operating system. Be patient until it finishes loading Windows® and the start-up applications. You will be alerted when the loading completes and the startup applications are initiated.
After the light of the hard disk stops blinking, you can insert the system disc. After you have inserted the disc, you have to turn off the laptop. Wait until the laptop accesses the information from the system disc.
When the system boots you should press the ‘C’ key continuously. After the disc is accessed, you may see the ‘Loading Files’ message. Keep in mind that you must always start the default reset process by selecting the factory option that will pop up. If you press the ‘F12’ key then the laptop’s booting will be made from the disc. Click on the CD/DVD section and then click ‘Enter’. Now, the restoration process will start.
You must follow all the instructions displayed on the screen until the process finishes. The process of restoring the default settings of the Toshiba Tecra® A11 laptop can last about 30 -45 minutes. If you have not clicked ‘Cancel’ to finish the process, the laptop will return to the factory settings after the operating system completely installs.
